Half of Insituform's headquarters was previously dedicated to manufacturing processes supporting their specialty stormwater pipe rehabilitation services. In response to the need for more office space and changing workplace requirements, Christner redesigned the headquarters. Open offices are located in the former dock area, which meant we could bring in plenty of natural light through a new window wall. Christner's workplace planners centralized the executive offices, and added conference and work rooms to support the demand for flexible spaces.

Our planners relocated the building entrances to align with the new office layouts. We added a sweeping entry canopy, in keeping with theme of water and pipes.
We transformed the former manufacturing area into an open office. A wall of windows in the former dock space floods the impromptu conference spaces with daylight.
In planning the consolidation, Christner designed and implemented new office standards for Insituform, eliminating perimeter offices and introducing one versatile workstation for office-wide use.
We incorporated themes of water and pipes, with the goals of utility and simplicity. We used translucent plastic with a dimensional wave pattern in the signage, and corrugated metal wall details are reminiscent of pipes.
