Christner was engaged by the Ladue School District to plan and design 160,000 sf of renovations and additions to four elementary schools and the middle school. Facility improvements accommodate the growing student population, respond to increased need for faculty offices and breakout space, and delivery upgrades to classroom technology. Our designers provided the middle school with the most significant addition of 27 new classrooms and labs. We also renovated the commons to create a welcoming gathering space. We renovated or replaced cafeterias at each f the schools for more efficient food service.
Size: Five schools, 160,000 sf
Status: Completed 2009
We included separate storage rooms for each science lab at the middle school. Perimeter lab benches offer ample classroom space to reconfigure the seating for 24 students.
Christner redesigned the kitchen and cafeteria at the middle school to improve student flow during the busy lunch sessions and equipped it with new finishes and lighting.
The additions at each school required our team to create contextual designs that complement the existing schools and surrounding neighborhoods. Conway Elementary is shown here.
The new classrooms at each school were equipped with state-of-the-art whiteboards and ample storage space, including Old Bonhomme Elementary shown here.
