Mercy Children's Hospital NICU

Creating a private-room NICU model

The new 98-bed NICU was central to the creation of a new Children's Hospital at Mercy Hospital St. Louis. The transition from the existing open ward unit to a private room model offers state-of-the-art neonatal care. Each room is designed with comfortable seating, including a sleeper sofa, to encourage families to spend more time at the patient's bedside. Monitoring systems which page the patient's nurse when vital signs change, large screen monitors which broadcast patient's vitals to physicians and nurse's within each unit, and nurse stations with direct lines of sight to each bassinet ensure the highest level of care.
