In a competitively dynamic healthcare market, Columbia Orthopaedic Group found itself practicing in a variety of outpatient settings in Columbia, Missouri. In order to optimize performance and control operating costs, the group sought to consolidate their physician offices, clinical, diagnostic, ambulatory surgery and administrative functions in a new location.
The building includes a lobby/reception area; ambulatory surgery center with four operating rooms; imaging center with two open MRIs; 50 exam rooms; 4 plane film rooms; 8 cast rooms; and medical office space for 26 physicians and support staff. The three-story building takes advantage of the natural grade of the site to create two separate entrances, one for clinic patients and one for outpatient surgery. The typical orthopaedic patient does not need to change floors (or use stairs or elevator) during a visit. The functions are planned and linked vertically to make the physician's work day more efficient.
